Amazon expects its own logistics network to deliver nearly 89% of its US packages by 2029, according to a report based on an internal planning document. The company expects more than 86% of packages to be delivered through its own network next year, up from more than two-thirds in 2023.
The shift would further reduce Amazon’s reliance on third-party parcel carriers. The company expects the share of packages delivered by the USPS to fall from 10% in 2027 to 8% in 2029. UPS’s share is projected to decline from 1.8% to 1.4% over the same period.
Amazon has been expanding its last-mile network, including a $4 billion investment announced last year to triple the size of its rural delivery network by the end of 2026. The company delivered 6.7 billion packages through its logistics arm in 2025, surpassing USPS at 6.6 billion and UPS at 4.4 billion.
Amazon’s spokesperson cautioned that the internal projections are preliminary and subject to significant revision.
