BackOps has raised $42 million in a Series B led by Insight Partners, with Theory Ventures, Construct Capital, Gradient Ventures and 10VC also participating, to expand its AI “resolution layer” for supply chain operations.
The product connects to a company’s carrier systems, internal software and outside portals, then learns how a team actually handles a given process. Once a workflow is approved, it carries out those steps on its own and works through exceptions and disputes with little human involvement.
At one national parcel platform, live since December 2025, the system has processed more than 500,000 carrier claims and resolved 91% of them with no person involved. The automated share climbed from 87% at launch to 99% today, even as monthly volume grew 150-fold with no new hires.
At a 13-site retailer, BackOps cut the average billing cycle from about 28 hours to 14 minutes. BackOps projects that will save the retailer roughly $660,000 a year by avoiding the planned hire of five billing specialists and a supervisor.
The new money goes toward automating more operations and finance processes, plus product, engineering and sales hiring. It follows a $26 million Series A that Theory Ventures led in March, the venture firm said in its own writeup of the round.
“People have become the middleware between systems and outside parties that keep supply chains moving,” said BackOps co-founder and CEO Sean McCarthy. “AI changes what is possible, but companies shouldn't have to spend months building infrastructure before they can start solving real operational problems.”
