Boscov’s is partnering with Manhattan Associates to deploy its ActiveOrder software to help improve efficiency across its network of 51 department stores. The technology will provide a unified view of inventory across Boscov’s stores and help optimize ecommerce fulfillment. The software brings order management, store fulfillment and customer service onto a single cloud-based platform.
Boscov’s has stores in nine states including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, New York, Connecticut, Ohio, Rhode Island and West Virginia. It aims to ensure orders are fulfilled from the most efficient location. The technology will support flexible fulfillment options, including ship from store and buy online, pick up in store (BOPIS), while maintaining control and margins.
“By unifying how we allocate and fulfill inventory across our stores, we can keep products closer to customers, reduce out-of-stocks and deliver a smoother omnichannel experience across our stores,” said Jim Boscov, Chairman and CEO at Boscov’s.
Other retailers are making similar moves. Lowe’s is using AI from Relex Solutions to connect forecasting, replenishment and allocation on a single platform. Target has developed a digital twin of its middle-mile inventory positioning system to improve planning across its supply chain.
