The news: Nexcade, a London startup, raised a $6 million seed to build AI agents that automate the back office of freight forwarding.
What it does: The agents read the emails, attachments, and spreadsheets a forwarder receives, then prepare quotations, procure rates, and enter shipment orders, leaving the final decision to a human operator.
It targets the quoting-and-rating grind specifically, a narrower wedge than most "AI for freight" pitches, which tend to aim at carriers or shippers. Nexcade names XPO, Zencargo, and Cardinal Global Logistics as customers.
The backers: Project A Ventures led the round, with Connect Ventures and MMC Ventures joining.
It is the company's second disclosed raise, after a $2.5 million stealth round, and the founders come from the freight and data worlds: a former chief operating officer at maritime-software firm Sedna and a former Palantir technical lead.
