TikTok Shop has added Happy Returns, the returns company owned by UPS, as an option for shoppers. They start the return in TikTok Shop, select Happy Returns, and take the item to one of nearly 10,000 Return Bar locations. No box or printed label is required.
TikTok Shop sellers decide whether to enable the option for their storefronts. It is available to participating sellers whether they ship orders themselves or use TikTok Shop’s fulfillment service. PacSun has signed on.
Happy Returns is TikTok Shop’s only box-free, label-free return option. The agreement is not exclusive.
Return Bars operated inside The UPS Store, Staples and Ulta Beauty locations. Workers scan and bag each item. The items are combined into large boxes and sent daily to processing hubs before moving through the UPS network back to the seller. TikTok Shop says shoppers receive refunds instantly at the Return Bar.
Each item is verified before the return is accepted. Happy Returns also uses an AI tool called Return Vision to flag suspicious returns for a final human review. Happy Returns says in-person drop-offs with item verification can reduce fraud by at least 85% compared with mail returns.
Amazon already offers no-box, no-label returns at more than 10,000 US drop-off points, including The UPS Store, Staples, Kohl’s and Whole Foods. FedEx Office joined that network in spring with more than 1,500 locations. UPS and FedEx compete on returns services because it can be more profitable than standard e-commerce deliveries.
Returns cost retailers an average of 27% of a product’s purchase price, according to Blue Yonder, a returns software company. Online returns totaled about $850 billion in 2025, and nearly 20% of online sales were returned, according to the National Retail Federation.
TikTok Shop’s US transaction volume grew nearly 80% last year, according to the platform. Its number of active sellers grew nearly 50% over the same period.
