Ultra, a Brooklyn robotics startup founded in 2024, has raised a $50 million Series A led by Framework Ventures, with Y Combinator participating, according to Fortune. That brings its total to $62 million, including a $12 million seed led by Y Combinator and NextView.
Ultra’s robot, called Operator or OP1, is a stationary, two-armed machine that packs, sorts and kits e-commerce orders. It occupies about 5 by 5 feet, plugs into a standard 120-volt outlet and can be installed in hours, per Humanoids Daily. The robots use AI models from Physical Intelligence.
The company offers the robots as a service, charging customers an upfront integration fee followed by a monthly fee for hardware and software support. Ultra says its robots have packed more than 500,000 orders at sites in New York, Georgia, New Jersey and Texas.
Highline Commerce, a Brooklyn third-party logistics provider, uses OP1 robots to fulfill up to 30% of its orders, Automated Warehouse reported in July. The company initially paid per order before switching to a monthly service fee. “I have an order for more robots for peak season,” founder and CEO Richard Hurley said. “I’m actually counting on them for thousands of orders a day.”
Ultra expects 100 deployments by year-end, Automated Warehouse reported.
